ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP
Did you know that you can become a Member of AWS for just a $25 tax deductable donation?

If you are interested in adopting a cat or dog, please stop in and fill out an application. There are many wonderful cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes. If adoption is not an option for you, there are several other ways you can still help... become a member, sponsor a pet or volunteer some of your free time by walking dogs, cleaning cages and more. At AWS we would like to see that each and every cat or dog that enters our facility finds a loving permanent home. In the meantime, all of our residents are loved and cared for by our many devoted employees and volunteers.

SHELTER NEWS

Due to the commitment that her continuing education demands, Jill Olejniczak has resigned as the AWS PR/Marketing Director. We wish her much success and "good grades" in her new and challenging venture! We appreciate all she has contributed to the Shelter.

This past month Tracy Brindle had to leave her position as Director of Fundraising at AWS. She and her family are relocating due to job requirements. We wish her and her family all the best in their new home. Her contributions to the Shelter will be missed.

We wish both of these previous Directors the very best in their new life experiences. They each have left a mark on AWS and we sincerely appreciate all that they brought to our community.

With the vacancies created by the recent changes in the Board of Directors, we will be seeking new individuals to fill these positions. A copy of the "Position Responsibilities" is available by clicking here.

UPDATED “WISH LIST” OPTIONS

The AWS WISH LIST has been updated to include the ability to donate directly to specific projects and certain funds. Using this option, you can now decide exactly where your donation will be used.

Like many non-profit organizations, we have a list of items we normally use at the shelter which do not always fit into our budget. We gladly accept donations of (or financial contributions toward) items on our Wish List. With this new option, you can delegate the specific project you would like to assist with.

In 2013 the generosity, support and financial assistance provided by this joint effort and event assisted the Animal Welfare Society in remarkable ways. Through Maddie's Fund, we were able to cover the medical expenses of the animals in our shelter and, likewise, could more readily afford the nutritional supplements so very much needed to improve the health of our treatable animals. The financial boost made possible by these funds also assisted in covering our operational expenses and building repairs; including the improved lighting and fencing for the safety and security of our facility. The funds also allowed us to to increase our publicity and educational programs to introduce our organization - and the adoptable animals in our care - to many more people in the neighboring communities than previously possible.

This year Maddie's Pet Adoption Days - the largest single free pet adoption event in the nation - gleaned 8,432 “Happy Endings” (adoptions) funded by $6,973,000 of the Maddie Fund nationwide. AWS had joined with the Mayor's Alliance for NYC which collectively received $2,905,000.

Our Maddie's Pet Adoption Days totalled 61 adoptions at Animal Welfare alone...
